Pianist Ani Ter-Martirosyan knows better than anyone what making music from childhood on can mean. It can make you forget your daily worries for a while and offers opportunities to meet others and build friendships. And you're never too young to learn. When she heard that choir conductor Inge van Keulen was performing Armenian folk music with the festival choir in May of this year, she approached us to organize a benefit concert in collaboration with us. Ani organizes a benefit concert every year, the revenues of which contribute to music lessons for children of families expelled from Nagorno-Karabakh. Because we like to pass on the love for music with projects for schools in Zeist and the region, this was an excellent opportunity to give children far away the chance to enjoy making music and develop their skills. On Saturday, November 2, songs by Schubert were performed alongside Armenian music. During the break, we enjoyed homemade cake that was sold for charity. The benefit concert raised more than € 1,700, allowing more than twenty children to take music lessons for six months.
