Their participation in the Young Artist Platform in 2025 earned soprano Elisa Maayeshi and pianist Pieter Bogaert an invitation to perform at a future edition of the versatile Wonderfeel. Mark van de Weijer was in the audience and was impressed by this golden duo: ‘Never before have I heard and seen Schubert's “Der Zwerg” performed more eloquently than on 4 July.’

To keep the lied alive, every year we ask a contemporary composer to write a new lied that shines a contemporary light on the festival theme. On Thursday 21 May, ‘1000 Ways to die in a Climate Disaster’ by Jorian van Nee will have its world premiere. Or are they actually six premieres?

For ten years you have been listening to the finest liederen in Zeist. This year we are GOING BACK TO NATURE! We will let you hear how beautiful she is and how vulnerable she can be. Come and listen to stories about nature from Friday 15 May to Saturday 23 May. Current, relaxing and in an intimate atmosphere.

Through our collaborations with international partners, young talent is given a springboard to present themselves to a wider audience. Bass-baritone Florian Störtz and pianist Mark Rogers won our Young Artist Platform in 2024 and could be heard last year during the ‘Showcases’ recital. On Sunday 15 March, they can be heard during the Oxford International Song Festival.

‘You can hear the most beautiful songs at International Festival Zeist’ is our motto. We want to live up to that not only now, but also in the future.

Recently, we were pleased to welcome a new patron. In memory of his partner, he decided to pass on her love of song to the next generation.

The International Lied Festival Zeist is for everyone: from practised amateur to beginner, and from young to old.
