Next Generation focuses on young song artists from all over the world. Under that heading, we include the master class, the Young Artist Platform as well as international collaborations aimed at exchange and providing stage experience at peer festivals.

Keeping the art of song alive, passing it on to a new generation of musicians and audiences and contributing to innovation, that is the basic idea on which International Song Festival Zeist is built. Talent development is therefore one of the pillars of the festival and inextricably linked to it. To achieve this, it offers a colourful palette of activities to young, (pre)professional singers and pianists who are ready to make the leap to a larger audience.

Ever since the first festival, six song duos have been admitted to our intensive, seven-day master class every year after a selection period.

In 2021, the festival introduced a new element: the Young Artist Platform. An audition in which six young, talented duos from home and abroad compete for two engagement prizes.
