Would you like to sing and shine yourself on the stage of International Song Festival Zeist this autumn? Sign up for the Open Podium at the Torenlaan Theatre in Zeist. Gilbert den Broeder is your vocal coach and the pianist who will accompany you on the grand piano.
The Open Podium is specially designed for advanced amateur singers* and young talent who want to sing songs under the guidance of a professional pianist. You will have the opportunity to perform in the beautiful theatre hall of the Torenlaan Theatre for ten minutes with Gilbert den Broeder as pianist. Would you prefer to perform with your own pianist? That too is possible!
There is room for seven participants, each singing one or more songs. The classical song or a classical duet is the starting point for your choice of repertoire. Don't forget the female composers. If you like to sing a lighter genre, such as a French chanson or a Dutch song from the 20th or 21th century? That too is allowed. Your songs or duets should not exceed nine minutes together.
Before the Open Stage, there will be a stage rehearsal in which you can rehearse briefly with Gilbert or with your own pianist.
Want more rehearsal time with Gilbert? Then join the rehearsal workshop on the same day. Twenty minutes of rehearsal time is available for everyone between 11.30 and 14.00. There is room for seven singers. Each participant will have 20 minutes to practise the chosen songs with Gilbert and, of course, you will also learn a lot from each other.
After the Open Podium, there will be an opportunity to chat and make contacts over drinks.

Gilbert den Broeder / vocal coach and piano
Gilbert den Broeder specialised in accompanying and coaching singers. He worked with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, among others, and is active with De Nationale Opera en Ballet, De Nederlandse Reisopera, The Dutch National Opera Studio and the Opera Forward Festival. For the International Theatre Amsterdam, he coached actors Ramsey Nasr and Gijs Scholten van Aschat. He is also a pianist for various competitions such as the International Vocal Competition 's-Hertogenbosch. He also works as a pianist on various radio and television programmes and accompanied Thomas Quasthoff's master class week for young, talented singers for the Grote Zangers series.

Placement is in order of entry. After placement, you will receive an invoice. Only after payment of the invoice will your placement be final. We then ask you to let us know by e-mail which songs or duets you would like to sing and whether you would like to send us the sheet music including piano accompaniment in the correct key.
