In his poem Schläft ein Lied in allen Dingen Eichendorff wrote: there is music in everything. Just utter the magic word and the world begins to sing! What would happen if we sang along with nature? In his books, forester Peter Wohlleben has written penetratingly about how plants communicate with their environment. We can learn to understand this if we train our senses accordingly.

During this workshop, you will make a start on learning to understand the language of nature. With up to 20 participants, we will go outside and listen to how nature records and reproduces what we make as sound and song. One species of tree sounds different from another. One sound reaches further than another in a particular environment. With the instrument ‘Music of the plants’, we will also listen to plants. This device can in fact convert the electromagnetic waves of plants into tones that are perceptible to us. You will experience that nature is alive around us.

Sign up by appearance Sunday 10 May send an e-mail to educatie@ilfz.nl.

Placement is in order of entry. A maximum of 20 participants can join, in case of oversubscription you will be put on a waiting list.

Inge van Keulen / singing teacher and choir director
Inge van Keulen studied voice at the Helicon conservatoire with Mariola Niedzielska, and also took lessons with Christiaan Boele and Rebecca Stewart. In 2016, she completed the application course in choral conducting for professional musicians at the Utrecht Conservatory, where she had lessons with Fokko Oldenhuis and Rob Vermeulen. From a desire to challenge herself and get deeper to the core through singing and to encourage others to do the same, she took various lessons and courses in solo singing, baroque music, light music methodology and music phenomenology, among others. Inge's activities include singing, choral conducting and organising sing-along mornings in theatres.
