Our earliest childhood begins with stories, told or read to us by parents and grandparents on the edge of the bed, by teachers after class, or by the babysitter affectionately called Zhanyushka in Russian. They are stories that reassure us, stimulate our imagination and help us develop our young brains. Together with David Bollen, Maria Warenberg tells a highly personal story during the spring recital, using songs by Gustav Mahler, Arnold Schoenberg, Modest Mussorgsky and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, among others. With her Jewish and Russian roots, Warenberg is the interpreter of choice for conveying how the Russian soul experiences love and suffering. Come tell again!

NB this recital has no intermission.
