Friday 15 May
sing by yourself
© Mel Boas

For advanced amateur singers and young talent led by. Gilbert den Broeder. Aanmelden is niet meer mogelijk.

Want to sing yourself on the Internationaal Lied Festival Zeist stage this spring? You can! Sign up for the Open Stage on 15 May. Gilbert den Broeder will be your vocal coach and accompany you on the grand piano.

The Open Podium is aimed especially at advanced amateur singers*essen and young talent. On Friday 15 May, seven singers*esses or duos will have the chance to perform in front of an audience in the Small Hall, with Gilbert den Broeder at the piano. Of course, your own accompanist is also welcome.

Your performance will last a maximum of ten minutes. You choose your own repertoire, based on the classic lied or duet. Do you like to sing a lighter genre, such as a French chanson or a Dutch lied from the 20e or 21e century? That too is allowed. However, it is meant to be in line with this year's festival theme: Back to Nature.

Immediately before the concert, there will be a private stage rehearsal in which Gilbert den Broeder will have a short rehearsal session with each of the participants. Want more rehearsal time? Then you can join the private rehearsal workshop on Thursday 14 May at the Torenlaan Theatre. Gilbert will then set aside 20 minutes for personal coaching for each participant (and their own accompanist, if necessary).

After the concert, there will be an opportunity to chat and make contacts over drinks.

Aanmelden voor het Open Podium is niet meer mogelijk. Je kunt je nog wel aanmelden voor een van de masterclasses voor amateurs.

Gilbert den Broeder / vocal coach and pianist

Gilbert den Broeder is an inspired pianist with a keen ear for vocal expression and a great track record as an accompanist and coach of singers and opera stars. He studied piano at the Amsterdam Conservatory and specialised early on in accompanying and coaching vocalists - a profession he has mastered to perfection. For many years, Den Broeder was solo accompanist at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, where he worked with world-famous conductors. His musicality, astute coaching and infectious sense of humour make him popular with young talents and established names alike. Like no other, he knows how to get the best out of a voice and to empower people.
