Would you like to sing yourself and shine on the stage of Internationaal Lied Festival Zeist this autumn? Sign up for the Open Stage at the Torenlaan Theater in Zeist. Gilbert den Broeder will be your vocal coach and the pianist accompanying you on the grand piano.

The Open Stage is specifically intended for advanced amateur singers and young talent who want to sing and rehearse lied under the guidance of a professional pianist. You will be given the opportunity to perform for ten minutes in the atmospheric theatre hall of the Torenlaan Theater with Gilbert den Broeder as the pianist. Would you prefer to perform with your own pianist? That is also possible!

There is space for seven participants, each singing one or more lied tracks. Classical lied or a classical duet is the starting point for your repertoire choice. Don't forget female composers either. If you enjoy singing a slightly lighter genre, such as a French chanson or a Dutch-language lied from the 20e or 21e Century? That's fine too. Your lied trios or duets must not last longer than nine minutes in total.

Prior to the Open Stage, there is a stage rehearsal in which you can briefly rehearse with Gilbert or your own pianist.

Would you like more rehearsal time with Gilbert? Then join the practice workshop on the same day. Between 11:45 and 14:15, twenty minutes of rehearsal time is available for everyone. There is space for seven singers. Each participant gets 20 minutes to practise the chosen liederen with Gilbert, and of course you also learn a lot from each other.

Following the Open Stage, there will be the opportunity to chat and network over a drink.

Applications close on Tuesday 10 November or as soon as the Open Stage is fully booked.

Placement is in order of arrival. Following placement, you will receive an email detailing the participation fee and the method of payment. Only after payment of the fee is your placement confirmed.
Next, we will ask you which liedos or duets you would like to sing, and whether you would like to send us the sheet music, including the piano accompaniment, in the correct key.

Gilbert den Broeder / vocal coach and pianist

Gilbert den Broeder is an inspired pianist with a keen ear for vocal expression and a great track record as an accompanist and coach of singers and opera stars. He studied piano at the Amsterdam Conservatory and specialised early on in accompanying and coaching vocalists - a profession he has mastered to perfection. For many years, Den Broeder was solo accompanist at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, where he worked with world-famous conductors. His musicality, astute coaching and infectious sense of humour make him popular with young talents and established names alike. Like no other, he knows how to get the best out of a voice and to empower people.
